Tascam Announces DR-100 Portable Recorder
April 13, 2009
Rugged Recorder Features Metal Chassis and XLR Ins
TASCAM's DR-100 Portable Recorder targets recordists who need a reliable handheld recorder with advanced recording features. Building on the best-selling DR-1 recorder, the DR-100 has a pair of XLR mic ins with phantom power for adding pro condenser microphones. In addition, the DR-100 has four built-in electret condenser mics - two cardioid and two omni - and a built-in speaker for playback. It's powered either through an included Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery or easy-to-find AA batteries. analog line inputs and outputs are also available, as well as a mic stand mounting hole for recording flexibility.
"TASCAM's HD-P2 has been the only choice for professionals who need great-sounding recording, XLR mic ins and SMPTE timecode," said Jeff Laity, Marketing Manager for TASCAM. "The DR-100 is the latest in a line of rugged recorders, going back to TEAC reel-to-reel recorders carried by G.I.s in the Vietnam war. The compact size is ideal for pros who don't need the timecode features of the HD-P2."
Other production-savvy features of the DR-100 include a wireless remote control and audio editing features. Playback can be looped or slowed down without changing the pitch, and locate points can be added while recording. The DR-100 records to SD or SDHC cards, and a 2GB card is included with the unit.
Tascam’s new DR-100 recorder is the ideal choice for capturing audio in tough environments. Call your TMP Pro rep for more information about the DR-100 or any other Tascam recorder.
